Enviroment

John Beavan UK Cabinet Makers has always been conscious of its impact on the environment and continuously aims to improve efficiency and practice.

The workshops are insulated to a high specification keeping them warm in winter and cool in summer. A sawdust burner uses waste materials for heating during cold periods, low energy bulbs and tubes provide the lighting and rechargeable batteries are used.

Most of the materials used are purchased from local and sustainable sources with about 75% from nearby farms and estates that have naturally fallen trees to clear or mature trees that need felling.

The mill is on-site and here these trees are cut into boards and allowed to dry before use. Other workshop waste is minimised by purchasing products with returnable packaging or without any packaging.

A recently installed anemometer will measure wind speed and help determine if it is appropriate to install a wind turbine for generating power.
