Tree HousesA unique pair of Treehouses are being built at the Old Parsonage, Kyre. The aim is create beautiful, eco-friendly, buildings that will blend naturally into their environment. Once completed, they will offer family-friendly holiday accommodation, one with wheelchair access and disabled facilities.
The large Tree house will be partially supported on stilts and built around a mature tree. Construction will be in timber with oak shingles to the elevations and thatched roofing overhanging a veranda. The interior will be as open as possible with many windows looking out over the countryside and wildlife. The accommodation will comprise a kitchen, lounge, two bedrooms, shower and WC and will have room enough to sleep up to five people. The smaller ‘boat’ houses will accommodate two and will be built overlooking a natural pool, close enough to hear the sound of the water.
All the electrics will be on a low 12 volt supply with the future aim of using solar or wind power generation.
Showers, toilets, a kitchen and recreation/playroom are to be housed in a nearby farm building and other on-site amenities will include pure spring water, washing machines, compost banks and recycling station, the toilets and showers mainly for the boat people as these little upside down boats will not have any facilities.
There is plenty to see and do in the nearby countryside as well as rambling, mountain-biking, water sports and watching the abundance of local flora and fauna. A calendar of local events is available, please click here.
John and Nicki Beavan and family have lived at the Old Parsonage for the past 9 years. In this beautiful part of Worcestershire with its rolling countryside, rivers and springs, they also run an established business, farm rare breeds and grow fruit and vegetables.
Conscious of their ecological impact on their surroundings, they try to live in harmony with nature. As custodians of the land, they aim to enhance it by promoting the soil and the wildlife. They are committed to minimising their carbon footprint with all sorts of recycling and energy-saving ways and by spending family holidays locally (where there is so much to see) and at home (where there is so much to do)!
