Gatehouse Doors to the New Place Shakespeare’s Birthplace

2016 marks the 400 year anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare. His former houses, The Nash House and The New Place in Stratford-upon-Avon, as well as the surrounding gardens, are being restored to mark the anniversary and become the ultimate site to visit for Shakespeare enthusiasts across the globe.

As part of this ambitious project we have been asked to create a set of large bespoke oak doors, long table, tall cupboards and two fold up stools to the garden area of the original Elizabethan house ‘The New Place’. The doors feature a stunning hand forges bronze hinges and locks with diamond pattern scored into the wood marking out the bronze studs.

From the initial sketches to the construction and finishing touches, the whole project has been undertaken in our Worcestershire workshop. We have dedicated hours to making sure these beautiful handmade doors are of the highest possible cabinet making standard.

This project has been a huge honour for us to work on as the doors will create the entrance to the former home of England’s most famous poet and play writer. We are excited at the prospect of our work becoming at the heart of such an iconic historical landmark for decades to come.

Working with national and international architects and interior designers and some amazing private clients, who have all given us stunning commissions to include in our portfolio. For over 40 years, John and his team of highly trained dedicated, skilled cabinetmakers have built a reputation for quality, creativity, and a high level of customer satisfaction. Our large, fully equipped workshop area includes adequate individual areas for each cabinetmaker to work in. This is impractical for larger manufacturers, who depend on volume and robotic processes and mac
