Our latest commission combined olive ash, burr oak, and brushed stainless steel into a handcrafted, curved design that is both practical and elegant. John Beavan personally oversaw the project, turning sketches into a striking custom-built desk full of character. Koi Carp Side Table

The Koi Carp Side Table is a bespoke, handcrafted piece inspired by our client’s love of native trees and pond fish. Designed to feel light and elegant, it features finely turned columns and a striking contrast of natural oak and burr oak veneer for the top and base. To showcase the koi carp, we commissioned a vibrant fused glass panel with gently wavy glass, mimicking the movement of water. Every detail was carefully planned with sketches and full-size drawings, and each component meticulously moulded, veneered, and hand-turned. Finished with natural oil and clear wax, the table blends traditional oak craftsmanship with a unique glass feature, creating a standout, elegant side table that now serves as a distinctive focal point in our client’s home.

Bespoke Pippy Oak Consoles

These bespoke Pippy Oak consoles were designed for two narrow hallways, blending elegance with functionality. Starting with sketches and timber selection, a prototype ensured perfect proportions before production. Curved formas shaped the core layers, which were veneered with Pippy Oak, vacuum pressed, and finished with clear lacquer to highlight the distinctive “cat’s paw” grain. A chamfered glass shelf, held with coned oak pegs, adds lightness while showcasing the timber’s natural beauty. Every component is handcrafted using traditional tools and sustainable hardwoods, combining historical techniques with contemporary design. From the graceful curves to the precise finish, these hallway tables are unique, functional, and visually striking, reflecting the rare artistry of true bespoke furniture.

Luxury Custom Drinks Chest by John Beavan

Handcrafted by John Beavan, this luxury drinks chest features decorative brown burr oak, polished brass fittings, and felt-lined compartments for crystal glassware. With a dovetailed drawer for whisky tumblers and portable design, it is perfect for sophisticated entertaining, gifting, or stylish home bar storage.

Fintz Display Plinth

John Beavan created a bespoke Applewood display plinth for the bronze bust of English composer Gerald Finzi, sculpted by Jemma Pearson. Commissioned by the Finzi Charitable Trust and unveiled at London’s Royal Academy of Music, the plinth features marquetry reading ‘All my work hath prosper’d well’, celebrating Finzi’s music, apple-growing, and English craftsmanship.

Yew and Oak Hall Table

While restoring their barn conversion, our clients uncovered a rare and evocative detail, historic carpenter’s marks etched into the original oak beams, wanting to preserve and celebrate this craftsmanship, they commissioned a bespoke hall table that would place these beams at its heart.

We designed a contemporary piece that tells an old story, carefully cutting the reclaimed oak into cubes and housing them within elegant glass flutes so every mark could be clearly seen, these were framed in natural oak to contrast subtly with the existing oak flooring, while burr yew was introduced on the faces to add richness, visual depth and harmony with a treasured antique sideboard.

Finished with a natural oil to enhance the grain and warmth of the timbers, the result is a handcrafted hall table that blends modern furniture design with heritage woodworking, creating a striking focal point, a conversation piece, and a lasting tribute to traditional British craftsmanship.
